WILDERNESS NAVIGATION

I have retired from teaching this course. The last class I taught was in the spring of 2019. At this point I'm not sure if the college will find someone else to teach the class, or if it will fade into history.

This land navigation course is intended to give the student a through understanding and skills in reading and using topographic maps, the compass, terrain reading and interpretation, and putting it all together to navigate in the wilderness. This course will also cover using Global Positioning System (GPS) receivers and basic desktop computer mapping programs.
