PKMGT 24: WILDERNESS NAVIGATION

This land navigation course is intended to give the student a through understanding and skills in reading and using topographic maps, the compass, terrain reading and interpretation, and putting it all together to navigate in the wilderness. This course will also cover using Global Positioning System (GPS) receivers and basic desktop computer mapping programs.

Class meets Fri/Sat/Sun over two weekends: July 9-11 and July 23-25 (does not meet the weekend in between). Begin/end times are: Fridays from 6-9:15pm, Saturdays and Sundays from 8am-5:40pm.

Fall 2010
Class meets Fri/Sat/Sun over two weekends: October 22-24 and November 5-7 (does not meet the weekend in between). Begin/end times are: Fridays from 6-9:15pm, Saturdays and Sundays from 8am-5:40pm.

Registration for a class at West Valley is a two step process.
First you need to apply for admission to the college using the Web Advisor System at http://www.westvalley.edu/apply1.html
Once you have been admited, you will receive instructions for registering for classes. Fees vary, but this class will cost the average California resident about $30.
